Motown Writers Network Writers/Car Camping Retreat 2026

October 9th - 11th, 2026

Goal

To camp out in nature off-grid, surrounded by nature for writing sprints/inspiration, mini workshops, and networking with other local writers. 

Hosted by Motown Writers Network, Brick House Studio, and author, Sylvia Hubbard, with guest facilitator, Kristine Brickey 

Camping location: Brick House Studio, Mason, Michigan (exact location will be included the Google Doc)

Vehicle required: A Car, Crossover, or SUV. You can also have a van, but please no class B, C, or A campers will be allowed.

Schedule

• Friday
  • Arrival 4-6 pm time 
  • Set up car area and writing area - Boondocking/Dry Camping 101
  • BYO Dinner and Campfire - Writers Block Tips 
  • Writing Sprint 
  • Sleep

• Saturday 
  • BYO Breakfast and Networking
  • Tour/horse demo of the Farm area 
  • Workshop - mental health for writers 
  • BYO Lunch and Writing Sprint in our Camp areas 
  • Turkey Chilli Dinner & Campfire 

• Sunday
  • BYO Breakfast morning writing sprint 
  • Planning your writing Workshop using planners with BYO Lunch
  • Clean & Pack up (Clean up your area, and you’ll take your trash with you)

Pay with the understanding:

*When you pay you understand you are responsible for bringing items for dry camping (items are on Google Document) and a writer’s retreat. The low cost is because you will be responsible for yourself. We’ll provide the workshops, a farm tour, a Saturday night dinner, the campfire, and some minor water and electrical assistance. 

The form at the end of the Google Docmust also be turned in by September 20th as well. If you need to mail it to us, please contact us.
